- Distracted driving
- Following too closely
- Failing to yield the right of way

The Parties Liable for Your Injuries After a Car Accident in Brooklyn
After you get injured in a car accident in Brooklyn, you may be entitled to compensation if the accident was the fault of another. However, based on New York State No-Fault law, you have to look to your own auto insurance to pay your medical bills. A lot of our clients are surprised and troubled to hear this, asking things like:
- Why do I have go through my car insurance when the accident wasn’t my fault?
- Why doesn’t the other driver’s car insurance pay for my medical bills?
- Will my auto insurance rates go up?
These questions are all understandable, but no-fault is structured that each party, regardless of fault, looks to their own car insurance to pay their medical bills. You can still sue the at-fault party for pain and suffering, but your own insurance carrier pays the doctor’s bills. Certain forms need to be filled-out right away though, so contacting a lawyer with experience in this field is warranted.
